    Burnhouse Engineering was commissioned by a global fit-out, technology, and construction company<\/strong> to deliver a high-specification glass balustrade as part of a hotel conversion in one of Edinburgh\u2019s most prestigious addresses \u2014 Princes Street<\/strong>, overlooking the iconic Princes Street Gardens.<\/p>\n\n

    The project was awarded to Burnhouse following a competitive tender process, reflecting the company\u2019s proven ability to deliver quality engineering solutions on time and within scope.<\/p>\n\n

    Client Engineering Breif<\/h2>\n\n

    The client\u2019s architects provided the initial design for a glass balustrade to be installed on level 4 of the hotel\u2019s external fa\u00e7ade. Burnhouse Engineering was tasked with manufacturing, delivering, and installing<\/strong> the finished structure to meet both safety and aesthetic requirements.<\/p>\n\n

    Engineering Methodology<\/h2>\n\n

    3D Modelling & Design Review<\/h3>\n\n

    The architect\u2019s drawings were recreated in SolidWorks<\/strong> to produce a 3D environment model. This process enabled Burnhouse to identify design anomalies early in the project. Practical engineering solutions were proposed and accepted by the client, preventing costly changes and delays later in the build.<\/p>\n\n

    Fabrication<\/h3>\n\n

    All manufacturing took place at Burnhouse\u2019s Ayrshire workshop using a combination of carbon steel, aluminium, and structural glazing<\/strong>. Each component was fabricated to precise specifications to ensure a perfect fit during installation.<\/p>\n\n

    On-Site Installation<\/h3>\n\n

    The completed balustrade sections were transported to site and installed in coordination with the client\u2019s construction team on levels 3 and 4 of the building\u2019s external fascia. Burnhouse\u2019s engineers drilled and fitted 60 brackets<\/strong> to secure the glass panels in place. All safety measures were provided by the client, ensuring a safe and efficient installation process.<\/p>\n\n
